  • Lead acid batteries

  • Lithium ion batteries

More information about how to recycle batteries.

Household chemicals

  • Pesticides

  • Antifreeze

  • Solvents

Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)

  • Large household appliances (washing machines, cookers)

  • Small household appliances (kettles, toasters, microwaves)

  • Cooling appliances (fridges/freezers)

  • TVs and computer monitors

  • Fluorescent tubes (including energy saving light bulbs)

  • Vapes and electronic cigarettes

Disposal of asbestos

Asbestos is dangerous and must never go in your general waste bin. Loose asbestos in your bin puts our workers’ health at risk.

We accept cement bonded asbestos at recycling centres, up to:

  • 6 sheets or bags per visit

  • 18 sheets or bags per year

Take asbestos to any of these recycling centres:

Before you bring asbestos to a recycling centre:

  • wrap it in heavy duty polythene sheets

  • double-bag and seal smaller pieces

Only cement bonded asbestos is accepted. Fibrous asbestos must be removed and disposed of by a registered contractor.

Recycling centres provide free asbestos wrapping materials (in limited quantities). You can collect these from the centre.

Cement bonded products

For safety, staff treat all cement bonded products as asbestos, even if tested. Artex may contain asbestos fibres and should go in the asbestos skip, not the plasterboard skip.

For more information about safe handling and disposal of asbestos, visit the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) website.
