Buy, renew or change a school bus season ticket

You can buy a season ticket for use on Lancashire County Council's contracted school services where spaces are available. To use our contracted buses without a season ticket your child can pay the daily fare to the driver if there is space available.

With a season ticket you can save up to 20% of the cost of the daily return fare. You can also spread the cost if you choose to pay by direct debit.

You can now apply for a school bus season ticket for the academic year 2026-2027.

Follow these steps to request a school bus season ticket

Step 1:  Request an application pack

When you request an application pack, you will need to provide the following information:

  • school name

  • bus stop

  • child's name, date of birth and address

  • parent/guardian details

You will get an email shortly after you request an application pack. Check your spam or junk folder if it has not arrived.

Step 2: Complete the application pack

If there are spaces available on the service, we'll send you a personalised application pack. You must complete the form and return it to us by post.

Step 3: Receive your pass and payment details

When we received your completed form and approve your application we will send you:

  • a bus pass

  • an invoice or payment schedule

You can pay by cheque, postal order, credit/debit card or direct debit.

If your child currently has a season ticket we will send you a renewal form at the beginning of May. If your child is currently in year 6 or year 11 you will need to make a new application for a season ticket.

If you have not received a renewal form you can request a replacement by completing this form:

If you have changed your address, your child changes school or you wish to change your bus service, let us know by completing this form:

Change your details

If you no longer need your season ticket you can apply for a refund, as long as your season ticket is still valid.

To request a refund:

  • return the pass to the address on the back

  • include a note explaining why you want to cancel it

We work out your refund based on the number of full months left when we receive the pass.

For example, if you return a price band A pass in February, you will get  £206.80 back (4 months of £51.70).

If you lose your season ticket please check with the bus operator to see if the pass has been found on the bus. You can find the bus operator contact details on the timetable information for your school.

You can buy a replacement season ticket at a cost of £20. See the contacts for travel pass enquiries for more information.
