Parking, park and stride
For many of our schools across Lancashire, congestion and parking issues at school drop off and pick up times have been a cause for concern.
Options that can help with these include setting up Park and Stride, a PDF leaflet about parking that can be emailed to families and a parking pledge that could be used with families.
This leaflet was designed by LCC and the Lancashire Road Safety Partnership to support schools and families with road safety messages relevant to each stage of education from early years through to secondary school.
Park and Stride encourages families to park their car a distance from school and walk the rest of the way. It allows those who live further from the school to introduce an element of active travel into their journey. As well as promoting physical activity, Park and Stride can reduce congestion and improve air quality around the school.
We can supply schools with A-frames with the message, "THINK! Stopping here could endanger a child's life."
When using the A Frames outside schools, they must not be placed on the road and should be positioned to highlight existing restrictions and not to prevent legal parking.
