Overview

This course covers the implementation and management of health and safety on construction sites and provides some detail and guidance through reference documentation used to comply with statutory obligation for organisations.

Aim

Provide awareness to all managers with the responsibility of managing these functions under Health and Safety law and the potential impacts of any breaches.

Objectives

  • Discuss the management of health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions and within the context of their management role

  • Develop an understanding of responsibility and accountability for site health, safety and welfare

  • Recognise that a safe site is efficient, economical, productive and environmentally friendly

  • Promote good practice in the workplace

  • Improved confidence in managing workplace activities

  • Understand the importance of good management of construction sites

Entry requirements

  • Delegates should either be in or about to engage in a managerial role that is able to influence Health and Safety standards on site.

  • Should be competent in English at site management level.

Course duration

  • Five consecutive days.

  • Day release over four or five weeks.

Refresher

Every 5 years.

Certification

On successful completion of the course end exam, certification is awarded by Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) as part of the Site Safety Plus suite of qualifications.
